Spring is in the Air

Spring is in the Air

The vines are being prepared for the growing season. All of the old wood has been removed and pulled off. It seems like the job is never-ending. A long view of a vineyard in early spring, with rows of pruned vines and pulled wood waiting to be shredded. There is always another field just behind the one you finished. Between every second row, the last year’s growth is placed, waiting for it to be shredded.Long rows of pruned grapevines with old wood placed between every second row, ready to be shredded in preparation for the growing season.

The sap is moving in the vines, but spring is more obvious in blooming plants. Forsythias are a cascade of gold. Likewise the bouquets of daffodils are in the baskets of most shoppers at the open air markets.A vibrant bouquet of yellow daffodils arranged in a clear glass vase, symbolizing the arrival of spring. Our rosemary is covered in tiny blooms of blue. The apricot tree is just beginning to come into bloom. Close-up of delicate white apricot blossoms on a branch against a blue sky, showing the intricate details of the spring flowers. With temperatures in the 70s the lawn needs yet another trim today.

A formal entrance gate with white stone pillars leading into a vineyard, with neat rows of vines stretching into the distance under clear skies.

What a great way of life that is dictated by plant growth, weather, eating and drinking well.
